FAO has just presented its report on the impact of Covid-19 on the fisheries sector.

The 2020 edition of The State of World Fisheries and Aquaculture was completed as the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic spread around the world. Therefore, the publication makes reference to, but does not address the impacts of the pandemic on our sector. The addendum now launched, is intended to capture these rapidly evolving impacts, and provide a baseline for interventions and policy advice.

FAO lacks a greater social component in the response of countries to the effects of COVID-19 on fisheries. It is a sector that has been strongly affected, especially in terms of international distribution and HORECA, and has a great impact on the way of life of fishermen.
